Clinical Supervision for Counsellors

Reflective, trauma-informed supervision in Leamington Spa and online across the UK

A space to take off the professional mask, reflect and grow

As counsellors, we spend so much of our time supporting others. We listen, hold difficult experiences, sit alongside pain and help clients make sense of their lives.

But who supports us?

For me, supervision is much more than a professional requirement. It is a space where you can pause, reflect and make sense of the work you do. A space where you don't have to have all the answers or feel that you need to get everything right.

As practitioners, we can sometimes feel pressure to appear confident, capable and in control. Yet behind the professional role, we are human too. There are times when we feel uncertain, affected by a client's story, challenged by a therapeutic relationship or unsure about the next step.

I believe supervision should be a place where you don't have to wear the professional mask.

A place where you can bring your questions, challenges, successes, uncertainties and reflections without fear of judgement.

Together, we can slow things down, become curious about what is happening and create space for deeper understanding, growth and learning.

My approach to supervision

My approach is person-centred, collaborative and trauma-informed.

I aim to offer a warm, supportive and reflective space where you feel heard, valued and respected as both a practitioner and a person. Alongside support, I will offer gentle challenge where appropriate, helping you to deepen your understanding of your client work, strengthen your clinical thinking and develop confidence in your own professional judgement.

I do not believe supervision is about being told what to do.

Instead, I see it as a collaborative relationship where we think together, explore different perspectives and make sense of what is happening within the therapeutic relationship.

My hope is that you leave supervision feeling more grounded, supported and connected to yourself and your work.

Supervision for counsellors working with children and young people

I have extensive experience supporting children, young people and families across a range of educational, therapeutic and support settings.

Working with children and young people can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also bring additional considerations. We may be navigating safeguarding concerns, working alongside parents and carers, liaising with schools or supporting young people who find it difficult to express their thoughts and feelings.

I understand the unique challenges that can arise when working with children and young people and offer supervision that supports both the practical and emotional aspects of this work.

I particularly welcome trainee and qualified counsellors who work with children and young people or are looking to develop confidence in this area.

Trauma, sexual abuse and emotionally demanding work

Alongside my private practice, I have experience supporting children, young people and adults affected by trauma, sexual abuse and difficult life experiences.

I have worked within specialist sexual abuse support services and completed Blue Star pre-trial training, giving me an understanding of the complexities that can arise when supporting survivors of abuse and trauma.

This work can have a significant emotional impact on practitioners. Sometimes we carry concerns, questions or feelings long after a session has ended.

Supervision offers a safe place to explore the emotional impact of the work, ethical dilemmas, boundaries, safeguarding concerns and the challenges that can emerge when working with complex or traumatic experiences.

Supporting neurodivergent clients

I also have experience supporting children, young people and adults with ADHD, autism and other forms of neurodiversity.

Every individual experiences the world differently, and I believe it is important to remain curious about each person's unique strengths, challenges and ways of relating.

Within supervision, we can explore how to work in a way that feels responsive, flexible and supportive for neurodivergent clients while remaining grounded in your therapeutic approach.

What can we explore in supervision?

Supervision may include:

  •  Client work and therapeutic relationships

  • Working with children and young people

  •  Trauma and sexual abuse

  •  ADHD, autism and neurodiversity

  • Safeguarding and ethical considerations

  • Working with parents, carers and schools

  • Professional boundaries and dilemmas

  •  Your emotional responses to client work

  • Feeling stuck or uncertain

  •  Developing confidence in your practice

  • Self-awareness and reflective practice

  •  Professional and personal growth

Who do I work with?

I offer supervision for:

  •  Trainee counsellors

  •  Newly qualified counsellors

  •  Experienced practitioners

  • Counsellors working with children and young people

  • Counsellors working with adults

  • Practitioners supporting clients affected by trauma and sexual abuse

Whether you are just beginning your counselling journey or have years of experience, supervision can provide an opportunity to reflect, learn and continue developing your practice.

Why choose me as your supervisor?

Before becoming a counsellor, I spent many years supporting children, young people, families and vulnerable adults. My own experience of therapy was life changing and helped me understand the importance of feeling truly heard, accepted and understood.

Those values continue to shape the way I work today.

Alongside my counselling experience, I hold a Level 6 qualification in Clinical Supervision and bring a person-centred, relational and trauma-informed perspective to the supervisory relationship.

I believe that growth happens when we feel safe enough to be honest.

You do not need to arrive with everything figured out.

You can bring the difficult session, the uncertainty, the frustration, the ethical dilemma, the feeling that something doesn't quite fit, or simply a desire to reflect more deeply on your work.

What supervisees have shared

"Louise is by far the best supervisor I have worked with. She is excellent at containing difficult material without minimising it, and creates a space where I feel able to advocate for my needs without fear of judgement.

As a neurodivergent practitioner, I often experience rejection sensitivity, but Louise helps me move away from feelings of not being good enough and towards a more constructive and compassionate understanding of myself and my work.

She is collaborative, generous with ideas and offers support in a way that feels thoughtful and empowering. I genuinely believe she is a very special supervisor."

Taking the next step

Choosing a supervisor is an important decision. The relationship needs to feel supportive, safe and professionally enriching.

If you are looking for a supervisor who offers warmth, honesty, reflection and gentle challenge, I would be happy to arrange an initial conversation to explore whether we may be a good fit.

You don't have to wear the professional mask here.

Together, we can create a space where you feel supported to reflect, grow and develop as both a practitioner and a person.
