Neurodivergent Counselling in Warwickshire
Neurodivergent Counselling in Warwickshire
Being neurodivergent can sometimes mean experiencing the world differently to those around you. You may identify as autistic, ADHD, dyslexic, dyspraxic, or feel that you process information, emotions and experiences in your own unique way.
Living in a world that is often designed around neurotypical expectations can feel exhausting. You may find yourself masking, feeling misunderstood, overwhelmed, struggling with relationships, experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem or finding it difficult to feel accepted for who you are.
At Lotus Spirit Therapy, I offer a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can be yourself without fear of judgement or pressure to change who you are.
How Counselling Can Help
Counselling can provide an opportunity to explore your experiences, gain a deeper understanding of yourself and make sense of the challenges you may be facing.
Many neurodivergent people spend years masking or hiding parts of themselves in order to fit in with the expectations of others. While masking can help people navigate different environments, it can also be exhausting and leave you feeling disconnected from who you are. Counselling can provide a space where you do not have to pretend, perform or explain yourself.
A space where you can simply be you.
Together, we can explore:

Anxiety and overwhelm
-

You Do Not Need a Diagnosis
You do not need a formal diagnosis to come to counselling. Some people seek support following an autism or ADHD diagnosis, whilst others are beginning to wonder whether neurodivergence may help explain some of their experiences. Wherever you are on that journey, counselling can offer a space to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences without judgement.
For many people, one of the most powerful parts of counselling is feeling heard, understood and accepted without having to change who they are.
My Approach
I work in a person-centred and trauma-informed way, which means I will take time to understand your individual experiences rather than make assumptions about how you think, feel or process the world.
I recognise that every person is unique. There is no right or wrong way to communicate, experience emotions or navigate life. Counselling offers a space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace and in a way that feels comfortable for you.
Feeling heard, understood and accepted can be a powerful part of developing self-understanding, self-compassion and positive change.

FAQ'S
Do I need a diagnosis to access counselling?
No. You do not need a formal diagnosis to access counselling. Some people come to therapy following an autism or ADHD diagnosis, whilst others are exploring whether neurodivergence may help explain some of their experiences. Whatever stage you are at, counselling can provide a supportive space to explore your thoughts and feelings.
What does neurodivergent-affirming counselling mean?
Neurodivergent-affirming counselling recognises that there is no "right" way to think, feel or experience the world. Rather than focusing on changing who you are, counselling provides a space to better understand yourself, your strengths, challenges and individual needs.
Can counselling help with masking?

Yes. I work with both adults and young people, offering a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space to explore whatever may be troubling you.
